Brian Drebber to Announce Hollywood Cycling Championships
(Carson, CA – July 24) – Longtime American sports announcer, Brian Drebber, will be the voice of Hollywood Championship Cycling (HCC) on October 11th – 13th at the VELO Sports Center located at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Drebber began his broadcasting career over 30 years ago when he was a fan favorite at what was then known as the Trexlertown Velodrome in Trexlertown, PA. Drebber then went on to commentate for eight Olympic, Pan American, and Goodwill Games, as well as the world championships for an astonishing 28 different sports including drag boat racing, aerobics, cycling, and Nordic events.
“I’m thrilled to be back involved with cycling,” said Drebber. “It helped shaped my life and career. The six day format, with all of the action, music, and infield hospitality going on, will be great for the fans. The racing and atmosphere will not only be really entertaining for the hardcore cycling fans, but for those that are new to the sport. I believe the HCC event will lead to bigger and better things and it’s great to be a part of it.”
Drebber will be reunited with HCC TV and Webcast Producer, Kent Gordis. Drebber and Gordis first teamed up together in 1989 for the cycling World Championships in Chambery, France and then went on to work together on many projects including numerous Olympic Games and World Championships.
“Kent is really top notch in my book,” said Drebber. “I know he’ll be introducing new and exciting camera work specifically for HCC. Likewise, I’ll bring in some announcing elements featured in motor sports such as incorporating sponsor’s info as well as technology used by the teams and riders right into the exciting play by play.”
